North Derbyshire Women’s Aid (NDWA)


NDWA is a registered charity that provides advice, support to women, men and their children from diverse backgrounds, who are or have been experiencing domestic abuse in the local authority areas of Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover.
Support for men is provided through our specialist service for men, Derbyshire Support and Advice for Men (DSAM)
We provide a county wide IDVA service in Derbyshire.

We are inviting applications for the following posts:

Relief Adult Domestic Abuse Service Workers Wanted

To offer housing related support to women, men and their children in our four refuges. Applicants need to have an understanding of the issues around domestic abuse, and organisational skills along with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. Mutually convenient sessions are pre-arranged. A degree of flexibility is desired to meet the needs of the project, covering for absence of permanent workers. The rate of pay is £9.66 per hour.

Volunteer Counsellors Wanted

NDWA aims to recruit Female Volunteer Counsellors

Are you looking for a trainee counsellor placement or post- qualification counselling experience?Do you want to become a part of an organisation that makes a real difference to women’s lives?

NDWA in Chesterfield provides counselling and support to women survivors of domestic abuse primarily living in Chesterfield/North-East Derbyshire.

All volunteers receive a thorough induction, ongoing support and free training opportunities. NDWA also provides contributions towards travel expenses with qualified counsellors receiving contributions towards supervision costs, depending on experience and length of service.

Minimum entry level for applicants is the successful completion of the first year of a diploma course that meets BACP guidelines along with some previous clinical counselling experience.

Management Committee Members Wanted

What is a Management Committee and what do they do?

The Management Committee is made up of a group of female volunteers, from a variety of backgrounds who give their time freely one evening per month, to support organisational decision making

  • Support the Management Team to ensure the organisation is well run
  • Ensure NDWA comply with charity law
  • Ensure Quality Services are delivered to a high standard
  • Ensure finances are transparent and used for the benefit of the service

We are a non profit making organisation celebrating 25 years of service, that supports all individuals and their families who have been affected by the impact of domestic abuse. We have a broad range of community based service covering Chesterfield, North East Chesterfield and Bolsover, including:

  • Refuge
  • Advice and drop in services
  • Community based Support for Men, Women and Children
  • Therapeutic Services (Art therapy, Counselling)
