SUPPORTING PEOPLE

Supporting People is a government programme that aims to help people live more independently and to maintain their accommodation by funding organisations to provide housing related support.  A wide range of vulnerable people receive support from Supporting People funded services including peoople with mental ill health, people with learning disabilities, homeless people and families, young people, teenage parents, people with drug or alcohol problems, people at risk of domestic violence, travellers, and ex offenders or people at risk of offending.

The Derbyshire Supporting People Partnership is made up of the District and Borough Councils within the County, Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire  Primary Care Trust, Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust and the National Probation Service (Derbyshire).  These partners work together to agree strategies and deliver the Supporting People programme in Derbyshire.

NDWA's Refuges and Floating Support Service receive support to deliver these accommodation based services from Supporting People. These services are monitored and quality assessed by Derbyshire Supporting People.
